How to setup AT&T Internet Motorola Modem to allow Airport Express to negotiate PPPoE Connection

Quick and dirty steps to setup an AT&T Motorola Modem and Airport Extreme to allow Airport Extreme to handle the PPPoE connection.

Why do this? To allow for Port Mapping features of the Airport Extreme (Apple Remote Desktop, etc)

Install the AT&T Modem and hardwire your Ethernet connection to your laptop or computer (if on a Mac computer disable your Airport Express Connection).

Point your browser to: 192.168.1.254

A login screen will appear. Enter your AT7T PPPoE username and password.

Upon successful conection select Connection Settings inside the AT&T Modem Admin page.

Select the middle option: Allow for PC or Gateway to manage PPPoE connection.

Save changes.

You will get a screen telling you that the modem is rebooting.

Unplug the ethernet cable from your laptop or PC.

Connect that cable to your Airport Extreme's WAN port.

Enable your Airport Express Wireless Feature

Open the Airport Configuration utility (Finder>Utilities)

Connect to your Airport Extreme

Select Manaual Setup

Select Internet Setting Manager Icon

Under "Internet Connection" menu select PPPoE

Enter your username and password from AT&T

Under PPPoE Menu heading select "Always On"

Update your Airport Extreme.

You should get a green light showing a connection.

Log back into your Airport Extreme through the utilty and fine tune your network settings (Wireless, port mapping, etc)
